Responsibilities

This Lymphedema Occupational Therapist will join our fast growing team at Northside Hospital.  Lymphedema certification through a credentialed 135-hour program meeting LANA eligibility; 2 years’ experience or more is preferred. Occasional coverage to the acute care setting might be needed at times.

 

This individual will assist with and have knowledge in maintaining industry standards through research, investigation, and implementation of best practice evaluation and treatment for the lymphedema patient.  In addition, they will utilize evidence based cared models to evaluate and treat patients with oncology related diagnoses and general occupational therapy diagnosis and conditions.  Active participation in committees, departmental task forces, and multidisciplinary team meetings as needed, relating to the advancement of lymphedema services throughout the hospital is expected.  This lymphedema therapist will support the continuum of care by working collaboratively in an outpatient setting with other ancillary support services, physician practices, certified compression fitters, and dieticians as needed.  Certified Occupational therapy clinicians interested in this lymphedema position without a lymphedema certification are welcome to apply as training opportunities are available. 

 

Develops and administers occupational therapy programs and treatments for inpatients and outpatients of age groups defined by clinical competency which may include neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations. The duties of this position require patient and family education and the exercise of courtesy and patience in speaking with and assisting patients, families, medical personnel and others in order to provide quality customer service.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:
1. B. S. Degree (or higher) in Occupational Therapy.

2. Licensed as an Occupational Therapist by the Georgia State Board of Occupational Therapy

3. Must be certified in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for all age groups.

4. Must have 2 years of licensed clinical experience.

5. Internal candidate must attain 3.25 PE (prior year), no disciplinary action on file, and no red rule violation.


PREFERRED:
1. Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and other government regulations.

2. Lymphedema Certification preferred.
