Our Family-Centered Care capabilities include a 156-bed Mother/Baby Unit and nine well-baby nurseries. We take care of the family as a whole – mothers, babies, fathers, siblings, and extended family. We also support adoptions and surrogacies with guidelines in place to ensure optimal care for everyone.

 

In this key role, you will be critical to the daily flow and the quality and safety of patient care in the unit as you promote multidisciplinary collaboration and inspire and empower your team to excellence. You will:

• Advance best practices in mother/baby care
• Prepare daily staff work assignments
• Make patient rounds, evaluate nursing/unit activities, set patient care priorities, and recommend operational changes to enhance care
• Supervise staff, including orienting, training, mentoring, counseling, and evaluating
• Interpret and communicate hospital and division nursing philosophy, policies, procedures, and established standards of care and practice
• Help develop departmental goals, objectives, policies and procedures
• Maintain adequate supplies, equipment, etc.
• Make budget recommendations
• Participate in quality improvement activities
• Coordinate admissions and discharges
• Serve as liaison between patients, families, staff, and physicians
• Ensure compliance with hospital and professional license, certification, in-service, and training requirements

Qualifications

  1. Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with one (1) year of nursing experience in post-partum care.
  2. Associates Degree with three (3) years’ clinical experience OR Bachelor’s in Nursing with Two (2) years’ clinical experience.
  3. Demonstrated ability to set priorities and make appropriate clinical and supervisory decisions.  Must possess good problem-solving skills.
  4. Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  5. Certified in cardio?pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
  6. Other certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP may be required based on department needs.
