OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY
Admits, transfers, and discharges patients to and from rooms via the computer system. The duties of this position require the exercise of courtesy and patience in dealing with physicians, nurses, clinical departments, patients, families, and others in order to maintain sound public relations.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for all ADT transactions throughout the hospital system.
- Monitors the bed board to ensure timely bed placement of all admitted and transferred patients.
- Responsible for ensuring timely admission, discharging and transferring of patients.
- Works closely with the unit charge nurse to ensure proper bed placement.
- Responsible for the intake of all outside physician admission referrals.
- Responsible for ensuring all direct admit referrals are appropriate for the hospital system.
- Responsible for ensuring all ADT transactions are completed within the appropriate benchmarked timeframe based on the hospitals outlined standard.
- Assists in the training of new Room Control employees.
- Handles problems and inquiries relative to admission operations.
- Responsible for reviewing and monitoring the MOON report to ensure completion of all CMS regulatory documents.
- Responsible for reviewing and monitoring the Medicare patient census to ensure completion of all CMS regulatory documents for Medicare patients.
- Works closely with the House Coordinator and informs House Coordinator of current bed occupancy status, as necessary.
- Receives information concerning discharged patients or patients needing to be transferred from floor to floor, and enters information into computer system.
- As needed, completes registration at bedside for direct admit patients, completing the blank admit process.
- Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury‑accident to Supervisor/Coordinator/Manager.
- Monitors/prints the hospital census and distributes as appropriate.
