Responsibilities

Northside Hospital Cancer Institute - Internship in Patient Education

 

The Cancer Patient Education Internship will provide an opportunity for advanced degree students in health disciplines to research, edit, and develop content pertinent to cancer. This mentored experience will be tailored to the student's timeline and program needs. Overall, it will involve an initial systematic review and evaluation of our current educational materials that will subsequently inform the development of new targeted content as well as potential initiation of research projects.

The internship will include multiple potential activities. Based on a student's timing and interest, they may partake in multiple projects.

 

Interns perform a wide range of duties for many different departments. Some of these duties include: 1. Writing articles and taking photos for hospital physician, employee and consumer publications 2. Writing and distributing press releases 3. Designing fliers, postcards, invitations, etc. for hospital events and programs 4. Planning and implementing special events (community seminars, races/walks, etc.) 5. Assisting media on campus & coordinating media logistics 6. Working with printers and other vendors 7. Assisting with a variety of projects in Productivity Management, Finance or Administration 8. Assist with projects related to Physician Practices or Hospital Departments.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:


1. High School Diploma or equivalent. 2. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products. 3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 4. Ability to problem solve and have strong attention to detail.


PREFERRED:
Marketing 1. Junior or Senior Public Relations, Journalism or Communications majors or recent graduates preferred. 2. Candidates must have good academic performance. 3. Excellent written and oral skills. 4. Experience using PageMaker or Quark applications is a must. Productivity Management 1. Junior or Senior Engineering major. 2. Candidates must have good academic performance. 3. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products. 4. Strong mathematical skills and ability to work with formulas in Excel. 5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Revenue Integrity 1. Medical and or Coding background (apprentice and or externships accepted or individuals seeking RHIA, RHIT, CPC-A, CPC, CCS, CCS-P,
