Responsibilities

Operates angiographic equipment to assist physicians during cardiovascular and interventional radiologic procedures.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1.              Assists in the ongoing development and administration of hospital and department Quality Improvement program.

 

2.              Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.  Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury‑accident to Manager.

 

3.              Collects pertinent medical information to identify reason for examination and potential contraindications.

 

4.              May assist physician with epidural and intrathecal catheter placement, practicing sterile technique as required.  Sets up sterile trays with all supplies and instruments required for procedures. 

 

5.              Explains procedure to patient.  Starts intravenous line, prepares skin surface, positions and drapes patient, and assists physicians in the placement of guidewires and catheters.

 

6.              Administers intravenous contrast and monitors patient's reaction. 

 

7.              Operates angiographic equipment to visualize and guide physician during placement of catheters, aspiration needles, etc.

 

8.              Modifies equipment parameters as needed to improve visualization of desired anatomy.

 

9.              Calculates and enters patient charges into computer, performs minor maintenance and repair of equipment, and assists in orienting and training personnel.

 

10.           Complies with all recommendations and guidelines in Interdisciplinary Policy F-028 – Unit Based Automatic Drug Dispensing Cabinets.

 

11.           Must be available for call.

 

 

12.           Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.  Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury‑accident to manager.

Qualifications

REQUIRED: 1. Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology. 2. Registered Radiologic Technologist, with one (1) year of experience in diagnostic radiology.

3. CPR certification.

 

HOURS: Mon thru Fri schedule rotation: a week at a time 7a-330p 8a-430p 830a-5p (call week) call on a 5-week rotation (a week at a time)


PREFERRED:
1. Training or experience in general vascular coronary angiography and special procedures. 2. Prior experience in catheterization.
