Responsibilities

The Business Technologist for Finance Analytics is a data analyst with a high degree of technical expertise to build, maintain and support analytics or applications with modern toolsets in addition to having strong analytical skills to deliver business-driven responses to our strategic initiatives. Will function as the primary liaison between the Business Intelligence and Data Strategies team and Northside Hospital business teams.  May be deployed to work in specific business units, primarily in Finance, but also any other business area of Northside Hospital.  Will help align the strategic initiatives within the business areas and BIDS technologies, including the Enterprise Data Warehouse data marts, automation tools and visualization tools.  Will require a high digital IQ to stay up-to-date with new trends and advancements in technology.   Develops processes, data analytics, automation initiatives and communication strategies to enhance the effectiveness and competitiveness of Northside Hospital by streamlining processes, eliminating waste and improving overall efficiency.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Understands, efficiently uses and actively contributes to the development of business intelligence tools throughout the Finance division, which align with strategic goals and initiatives.
  2. Gathers requirements for the building and development of efficient reporting and analytical tools throughout the Finance division and other functional areas of the organization.
  3. Produces actionable reports that show key performance indicators, identifies areas of improvement into current operations and displays root cause analysis of problems.
  4. Conducts moderate to complex financial analysis projects using financial support systems, enterprise data warehouse or other data and analytical tools.
  5. Proactively develops improved methods of reporting and analyzing both clinical and financial data to enhance operations.
  6. Generates and analyzes data to respond to routine and ad-hoc end user requests.
  7. Assists with special systems and analytics projects.
  8. Converge with the Business Intelligence and Data Strategies department on new data and/or visualization strategies.
  9. Works within or as an adjunct member of designated departments and areas of expertise such as Financial Service Lines, Accounting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Productivity Management, Quality, Revenue Integrity, Supply Chain, Legal, Managed Care, Strategic Planning, or Clinical Ops Departments.
  10. Identifies opportunities and recommendations for process improvement within the organization, including process automation and data audits.  Responsible for programming and implementation of said improvements.

Qualifications

  1. B.S. in Computer Science/Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, or Bachelor with proven technical skillsets.
  2. Ability to quickly learn and synthesize new technologies
  3. Will primarily work in low-code/no-code environments, but must be able to comprehend and read the underlying programming logic within the environments.
  4. Aptitude for programming, Structured Query Language (SQL), Data Modeling and/or application design
  5. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with and assist both internal and external customers through various mediums such as face-to-face interactions, phone conversations, emails, and written correspondence.
  6. Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving
  7. Demonstrated ability to work productively, efficiently, and effectively, with initiative and determination, even under tight deadlines and pressure, while upholding attention to detail and quality standards.
  8. Demonstrated ability to acquire new knowledge, enhance skills, and adjust as needed.
  9. Demonstrated proficiency in implementing and overseeing business changes.
  10. Excellent analytical skills interpreting meaning from data

PREFERRED:

  1. 1-2 years’ experience in a healthcare environment
  2. Experience and/or coursework related to scripting, programming and automation
  3. Experience and/or coursework with finance
  4. Experience and/or coursework in business reporting software: Power BI or Tableau
  5. Experience and/or coursework with developing with Business Intelligence Visualization software: Tibco Spotfire, Tableau or Qlikview
  6. Experience and/or coursework with Python, R, Powershell or other scripting langages.
  7. Familiarity with Data mining, Data modeling for applications and data warehousing, Data cleansing, Data and Data standardization
