Responsibilities

Responsible for overseeing daily clinical and operational activities for the assigned Surgical Services Perioperative Nursing Units. Required to frequently apply management principles to the perioperative discipline. Must be capable of independent judgement and decision making in the areas of budget, personnel, patient services and administrative or professional programs. Maintains twenty-four (24) hour accountability and coordinates communications, training, operations and administrative activities for the perioperative cost centers. Acts as clinical resource for the Pre-Surgical Assessment unit, Chart Management Office and the Pre-Testing units.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:
1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a minimum of five (5) years experience in perioperative nursing, with at least two (2) years supervisory, managerial, or other responsible nursing experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. 2. Excellent written and oral communications skills.
PREFERRED:
1. Bachelors Degree in Nursing or Health Care Administration from an accredited college or university. 2. Two (2) years clinical experience in Pre-Op, PACU or ERU. 3. ACLS or specialty certification.
