Responsibilities

1. Minimum of two (2) years critical care experience preferred

2.                  Supervises Stress Testing of patients. 

3.                  Assists physicians with all special procedures requiring nursing intervention, patient care, and medication administration during cardiology studies. 

4.                  Monitors patients undergoing treadmill, nuclear stress testing, syncope studies and stress echocardiogram.  Observes electrocardiograph for rhythm changes. Monitors blood pressure and observes for patient adverse reactions to procedures or treatment. 

5.                  May insert IV prior to procedure.

6.                  Maintains equipment and inventory needed for the cardiac procedures.

7.                  Maintains daily checklist for emergency cart.

8.                  Assists Manager in developing and monitoring the Department Quality Improvement Plan and Departmental Policies and Procedures.

9.                  Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.  Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury accident to Director/Manager.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

 

  1. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  2. Licensed as an RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
  3. Must hold American Heart Association’s Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED:

  1. BSN degree
  2. Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).
  3. Additional Life Support credential (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications in specific units.
  4. Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units
