Responsibilities

Northside Atlanta Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Perinatal Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary inpatient team. This role involves providing specialized psychiatric care to women during the perinatal period, including pregnancy, postpartum, and the early parenting years. The ideal candidate will have experience working with mental health conditions that arise during these critical times, such as depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders.

Schedule - Mon-Fri; 8am-5pm Onsite

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Care:
    • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for pregnant and postpartum patients.
    • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions.
    • Provide counseling and therapeutic support for conditions such as postpartum depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and psychosis.
    • Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated care for mothers and their families.
    • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Consultation and Collaboration:
    • Serve as a psychiatric consultant to the obstetrics and gynecology department at the Atlanta campus.
    • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to coordinate care across specialties.
    • Educate patients, families, and healthcare staff about perinatal mental health issues.
    • Work with perinatal focused outpatient providers in the Northside system for patient discharge planning.
  • Community Outreach & Education:
    • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with advances in perinatal psychiatry.
    • Join in community outreach opportunities such as educational seminars and speaking engagements. 
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in accordance with hospital policies.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures related to perinatal mental health.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the department.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
    • Completed residency in Psychiatry.
    • Fellowship in Perinatal Psychiatry or equivalent experience preferred, but not required. 
  • Licensure & Certification:
    • Board certification/Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
    • Licensed or eligible for medical licensure in the state of Georgia.
    • DEA certification for prescribing controlled substances.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a psychiatric setting, with a focus on women s mental health and perinatal care.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong clinical skills in diagnosing and treating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
    • Compassionate approach to patient care with a focus on patient-centered outcomes.
