Responsibilities

Coordinates the daily operations between service areas in the department of Radiology

 

Evaluates, identifies, and makes changes in daily nursing activities and Radiology department staff which include adjusting staffing between services, use of resources and materials, priority setting, and patient services to enhance the services within the department.

 

Identifies and implements appropriate staffing and training needs to meet department needs, both technical and nursing.  Coordinates with Manager to develop and implement orientation of new employees, certification, and student affiliation.

 

Implements, interprets, and ensures hospital and division philosophy, policies, procedures, and established standards of care and practice. Assists in the development of department goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.

 

Assures IV Therapy practices are in line with standards of care that are considered best   These are established by INS (Infusion Nurses Society), AVA (Association of  Vascular Access Nurses) and CDC (Center for Disease Control).

 

Participates in the Departmental Quality Improvement activities.

 

Serves as a communication liaison between patients, families, staff, and physicians, and reports critical consequences of actions taken to Manager/Director.

 

Directly supervises staff, including hiring recommendations, assignments, training, counseling, evaluating, and discharging.

 

In collaboration with Clinical Supervisor shares responsibility for the counseling and disciplinary actions for assigned staff.

 

Assumes final approval of schedules according to patient acuity, department needs, and staff abilities.

 

Collaborates with Clinical Supervisors to ensure that appropriate supplies are available to meet department needs.

 

Maintains control of annual operational and capital budgets.

 

Complies with hospital and professional license, certification, in‑service, and training requirements, and committee and conference participation as appropriate for position.

 

Maintains familiarity with patient care issues relating to medical problems. Maintains      familiarity with equipment used for IV therapy and related technology.

 

Serves as a resource for Clinical Supervisors and staff for troubleshooting and resolving IV Therapy related issues.

 

Assists with staff and shift meetings and provides feedback to Manager/Director. Conducts  Leadership meetings on a monthly basis.

 

Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/visitor/patient injury‑accident to Manager/Director.

Oversees the prioritization and sequencing of radiology examinations to ensure optimal utilization of personnel, rooms and equipment.

 

Maintains inventory levels for stock supplies and special purchases.

 

Develops in conjunction with Manager, area’s QPS plan and implementation strategy.

 

Develops, arranges, authorizes and coordinates equipment and service maintenance expenditures.

 

Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies such as ACR, FDA and JCAHO

 

Responsible for pro-actively marketing department services to local referring physicians. Confers with physicians and hospital staff to exchange patient information and ensure continuity of care

 

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

  1. Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and licensed in the state of Georgia.
  2. Demonstrated proficiency in skills applicable to designated area within probationary period.
  3. Four (4) years of experience in nursing, with minimum of two (2) years in Pain Clinic.
  4. Demonstrated ability to set priorities, coordinates diversified and multiple activities, and make appropriate clinical and managerial decisions. Must possess advanced problem solving skills.
  5. Successful completion of a management course prior to appointment, or within six (6) months of employment.
  6. Certified in cardio‑pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:  RADIOLOGY 

  1. Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and licensed in the state of Georgia.
  2. Minimum of 2 years prior leadership experience in Radiology
  3. Good written and oral communication skills
  4. Five (5) years total experience in Radiology
