Responsibilities

In the Acute Cardiology Unit, you will work with patients with Cardiac and Vascular disease, some requiring an intermediate level of care. We care for patients with congestive heart failure, acute myocardial infarcts (STEMI, NSTEMI), cardiac dysrhythmia, cardiomyopathy, pulmonary edema, amputations, etc. Patients require many interventions on this unit including, echocardiogram, nuclear studies, pacemakers, percutaneous coronary intervention, vascular surgery, cardioversion and cath lab procedures. On this unit, you will become an expert at interpreting cardiac rhythms and skilled in drip titration, and post cath interventions such as TR Bands and Femoral Sheath pulls. Our nurses are trained in ACLS, NIHSS and responds to code blue events throughout the hospital.

 

The Acute Cardiology Manager has the primary responsibility for overseeing daily patient care operations for this department. Required to frequently apply a set of management principles to the smooth operations of the department. Must be capable of independent judgement and decision making in the areas of budget, personnel, patient services, physician relations and administrative or professional programs. Has twenty-four (24) hour accountability for assigned area.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:
1. B.S. degree in Nursing or related healthcare field and a minimum of three (3) years nursing experience, with at least two (2) years in a leadership or managerial capacity; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 2. Good written and oral communication skills.
PREFERRED:
1. Master's degree in Nursing. 2. Two (2) years clinical experience in specialty area. 3. Prefer at least (5) years experience.
