Responsibilities

The Senior ECMO Specialist, under the direct and indirect supervision of the ECMO Coordinator or CCICU manager, is an experienced Cardiac Care RN with extensive knowledge in the management of ECMO devices.  The Senior ECMO Specialist is part of the multidisciplinary team.  The Senior ECMO specialist will be able to perform all duties of the ECMO specialist and share specific role responsibility of the ECMO Coordinator.  The Senior ECMO specialist will cover for the ECMO Coordinator as needed and share on-call requirements. The Senior ECMO Specialist will assume the responsibility of taking care of both the ECMO patients as well as other patients in the CCICU when needed.

 

The Registered Professional Nurse at Northside Hospital independently plans and provides professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines, and in accordance with the scope of practice as defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act.

 

 

Qualifications

  1. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES, LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

     

    1. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
    2. Licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
    3. Must hold Certification in American Heart Association’s Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
    4. Five (5) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in a critical care setting.
    5. Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in ECMO.

     

     

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED:

     

    1. BSN degree
    2. One (1) year of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in ECMO at Northside.
    3. Additional Life Support credential (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications in specific units.
    4. Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units.
