Northside’s Medical Assistant Certification program is a state-approved, four-month paid program fully sponsored by Northside Hospital. You will be trained on how to triage patients, take vital signs, assist the physicians with any necessary diagnostic testing such as EKGs, phlebotomy, urinalysis, spirometry testing, give injections, and much more but, most of all, you will have the chance to make a major impact on your patients’ lives.

 

 

Candidates accepted into our program will enjoy: 

  • 3 months of classroom instruction at our Medical Assistant School in Metro Atlanta 
    • Candidates MUST be able to commute to Atlanta Monday - Thursday from 7a-4:30p for the first 12 weeks and to a clinical schedule for the remainder of the program
  •  1 month of hands on practicum to perfect your clinical skills
  • Comprehensive training to prepare for the Georgia Medical Assistant Certification test
  • A Full-Time Medical Assistant position at one of our state-of-the-art Physician Practices
  • Participation in our one of a kind RISE program to continue career development
  • *Candidates must sign a contract to remain within Northside for a minimum of 2 years upon program completion

Responsibilities

Provides nursing assistance and patient care to provide for the comfort, safety and personal needs of patients. Assists physicians/physician assistants/nurse practitioners in medical office setting. Performs a variety of patient care duties within the construct of a multidisciplinary patient care team as delegated by physician. Specific duties and responsibilities assigned to the individual will be determined by the supervising physician(s), clinical staff and Practice Coordinator after competency is established.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

 

1. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of hire

2. Must submit to a color vision acuity test if duties are lab related.
