Responsibilities

Patient Access Description

Arranges for efficient and accurate collection of information for orderly registration of pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Collects and distributes patient information, billing information, and collection information. Makes patients and families aware of hospital policies and procedures. The duties of this position require the exercise of courtesy in speaking with patients, families, and others to maintain sound community relations.

 

Financial Counselor Description

Represents the Hospital in financial matters pertaining to obtaining payment on patient accounts during pre-admission and inpatient phases of the patient's visit. Acts as intermediary with Admitting, Business Office, patients and family members while the patient is hospitalized.

 

Room Control Description

The Room Control Representative will be responsible for admitting, transferring, and discharging patients to and from rooms via the Star Clinical computer system. Will also be responsible to monitor the patient tracking system for efficiency in patient placement, accuracy in account charging, and optimization of patient flow. Works in concert with the House Coordinator to affect appropriate and efficient patient flow. The duties of this position require the exercise of courtesy and patience in dealing with coworkers, physicians and their staff, patients, families, and others in order to maintain sound public relations positively affecting the patient experience.

Qualifications

Please note: All positions require a holiday and weekend rotation.

 

Patient Access Rep Requirements

  • Six months clerical or customer service experience - preferably in a hospital or medical office.
  • Excellent communication and strong customer service skills.
  • Working knowledge and ability to perform accurately and efficiently on computer.
  • Typing skills of 30 wpm.

Financial Counselor Requirements

  • A. One (1) year experience in collection, OR B. Associate's degree in business.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations.

Room Control Requirements

  • One year admitting experience, or Associate's degree in Business.
  • Two years office or clerical experience.
  • Must have completed a medical terminology course.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate tactfully.
