Responsibilities

The Genomic Program Coordinator, NP role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the precision oncology program development. Functions in a clinical leadership role, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team as a clinical expert in precision medicine and genomic testing. Facilitates the clinical operations of protocol development, patient/provider education, testing management, result management, and interpretation resources. Serves as a primary clinical liaison between NHCI leadership, physicians, patient navigators, vendors, and program staff. Oversees the quality and integrity of the genomic program. Fosters compliance with clinical practice guidelines, participates as an active member of clinical pathway working groups, and maintains the established standards of care and practice through physician communication, and clinical improvement activities.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Facilitates the following clinical  operations:
    1. Screen Genomics Testing Results
    2. Review patient referrals
    3. Perform chart reviews and manage documentation
    4. Manage genomics data
    5. Communicate recommendation summaries to referring provider
    6. Perform follow-up chart review for patient outcomes
    7. Provide patient education on genomic testing orders initiated through pathology protocols or by genomics clinicians
    8. Coordinate testing with providers to reduce testing duplication.
  2. Serves as primary clinical liaison between NHCI leadership, physicians, nurse navigators, program staff and departments across all Northside Hospital campuses
  3. Oversee the quality and integrity of the genomics program with the following methods:
    1. Feasibility analysis
    2. Obtaining institutional approvals
    3. Ensure that data is reliable and verifiable through ongoing quality review process
    4. Other clinical administrative items
    5. Communicate the progress of clinical genomics to NHCI leadership.
  4. Work with the genomics team to review protocols and identify operational needs.
  5. Participate in weekly Genomics case review meetings
  6. Verify time and effort for genomics projects.
  7. Provides education to clinicians, assigned committees, teams, and task forces as appropriate.
  8. Prepares quality reports for assigned teams, committees, and task forces.
  9. Manage diagnostic lab relationships
  10. Assists in the statistical and clinical analysis of data including data abstraction.
  11. Monitors and analyzes quality metrics to identify potential opportunities for improvement.
  12. Facilitates process improvement and change management with various teams throughout the organization.
  13. Leads and participates in QI projects to improve workflow, efficiency, and performance of quality metrics
  14. Performs research to identify best practices and improvement strategies to assist teams in meeting departmental and organizational goals
  15. Serves as a team leader, facilitator, or member as assigned
  16. Participates in the intradepartmental quality improvement process.  Completes assigned tasks and makes reports to department leadership.  Seeks assistance as needed.
  17. Makes recommendations regarding the use of departmental resources, including staff to enhance operational efficiency for the department.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

  1. Registered Advanced Practice Nurse in the State of Georgia.
  2. Please refer to medical staff guidelines for certification and credentialing applicable to this position.
  3. Demonstrated ability to set priorities and make appropriate clinical and supervisory decisions. Must possess good problem solving skills.
  4. Minimum of one (1) years’ experience in a leadership role
    1. Experience conducting data collection and analysis as well as project management in Oncology is preferred
  5. Established interpersonal skills combined with the ability to be highly motivated and work independently
  6. Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  7. Ability to function effectively with a wide variety of disciplines, including physicians and hospital leaders.
  8. Ability to provide presentations on topics related to quality improvement issues.
  9. Able to lead a multidisciplinary team to accomplish an assigned project
  10. Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project.

 

  

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

  1. Active participation in professional organizations
  2. Experience working within a community hospital setting is preferred as well as having experience working with physician groups
  1. Experience assisting clinicians with developing proposals and protocols
  2. Advanced Clinical Genomics Nurse (ACGN)
  3. Oncology Nursing (OCN) certification
  1. One (1) year relevant experience in a clinical research setting.
