Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, train, motivate, support, evaluate, and manage the activities of the IS personnel supporting physician systems and technologies.
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all hospital physician applications as well as a working knowledge of all relevant hospital clinical applications and interfaces.
  • Maintain an awareness of evolving trends and technologies in the physician technology workspace; identify opportunities to use these technologies to enhance physician efficiencies and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate the design, development, build, testing, implementation, training, upgrades, support, and overall system management of all hospital physician applications and associated interfaces.
  • Develop an overall system and technologies strategy to enhance physician satisfaction and loyalty to Northside Hospital.  Identify and implement the systems and technologies necessary to maximize efficiencies for physicians across the enterprise. 
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with vendors as well as physicians, physician groups, and their staff.
  • Work closely with the Applications Manager, clinical Applications Coordinator, Interface Coordinator, and other patient care & IS personnel to help enhance clinical functionality and seamless integration with physician applications and technologies.
  • Manage and help develop Northside’s integration strategy with external entities and organizations, including participation in a Health Information Exchange or similar initiatives.
  • Monitor the Physician Systems & Technologies team issues lists and ensure regular, timely, and thorough follow-up with involved parties.  Act as primary point-of-contact in resolution of all critical physician system issues.
  • Act as primary point-of-contact with physicians and other end-users to perform physician system design and ensure all application and user requirements are being met.  Ensure outstanding levels of customer service are achieved by all physician systems and technology personnel.
  • Maintain comprehensive understanding of physician systems and technologies in the industry; review current literature and integrate information into optimal system designs.  Maintains knowledge / awareness of other products in the market as well as physician EMR and Practice Management systems.
  • Manage and facilitate ad hoc technology projects with physicians and physician practices.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of networking & Internet security, HL7 interfaces, smart phones and other mobile technology solutions, and other technologies as appropriate.
  • Maintain thorough, complete, accurate, and up-to-date documentation for all Northside Hospital physician systems/applications/technologies.
  • Practice proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.  Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury-accident to the Director.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:
1. B.S. Degree in Nursing, Business, Systems, or related field.

2. Five (5) years prior healthcare clinical or physician systems experience.

3. Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.


PREFERRED:
1. Six (6) plus years healthcare clinical systems experience, including experience with physician technology.

2. Experience in a clinical setting with physician interaction

3. Extensive experience in project management

4. Knowledge of McKesson applications
