Responsibilities

This position requires high-level support for the complex patient care systems that have direct impact on patient clinical outcomes. It has system- wide on-site responsibility to design, implement and support the laboratory information system applications including but not limited to: clinical integration with other applications, instrument interfaces, instrument maintenance, and troubleshooting. Works closely with laboratory management to provide direction and oversight of all LIS activities as related to compliance with federal, state and CAP regulations. Knowledgeable with Project Management methodology and able to apply these methodologies to complex projects for successful completion. Identifies and is able to resolve technical software and hardware problems to minimize downtime that would affect patient care. Defines, evaluates, analyzes and coordinates the need for system enhancements and upgrades at all facilities. In addition, maintains the GHS SIM, OIM, CPT code files working closely with the Revenue Management Department for complete and accurate billing practices. Qualifications

REQUIRED:
1. Must meet the Georiga State Laws of Licensure of Clinical Laboratories, Chapter 290-5-29-.06 (4)(b) 1-5, 8. Can qualify under 290-5-29-.06 (4)(b)7 but only for one year (MT Registry).

2. Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration or other Science related field. Must be MT certified.

3. Proven track record in managing difficult projects.

4. Great communication skills a must.

 

Technical Competencies: - Provides strategy, direction, direction and coordination of all Lab I.S. activities - Experience working with CAP and regulatory agencies policies and regulations Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills Able to communicate and present data to all levels of the organization including but not limited to lab and hospital administration. Knowledge of hospital networking and system architecture Understands interfacing language and data fields for application including other clinical systems. Provides expertise in Role base Grids for Privacy Information and Security as related to LIS users. Continually assesses the LIS functionality as it related to the laboratory processes and goals. - Knowledge of HL7 messaging from lab to HIS and other clinical areas. - Demonstrates knowledge of processes contained within the Standard Operating Procedure Manuals. Demonstrates understanding of importance with regard to specimen management processing including labeling, integrity, routing, and testing requirements. 


PREFERRED:
- 2 years of relevant computer work experience preferred.
