Responsibilities

In the Progressive Cardiac Care Unit (PCCU), you will work with patients with Cardiac and Vascular disease, some requiring an intermediate level of care. We care for patients with congestive heart failure, acute myocardial infarcts (STEMI, NSTEMI), cardiac dysrhythmia, cardiomyopathy, pulmonary edema, amputations, etc. Patients require many interventions on this unit including, echocardiogram, nuclear studies, pacemakers, percutaneous coronary intervention, vascular surgery, cardioversion and cath lab procedures. On this unit, you will become an expert at interpreting cardiac rhythms and skilled in drip titration, and post cath interventions such as TR Bands and Femoral Sheath pulls. Our nurses are trained in ACLS, NIHSS and responds to code blue events throughout the hospital.

 

Provides nursing assistance and patient care to provide for the comfort and personal needs of patients. Assists pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients with activities of daily living and performs procedures for physical hygiene and comfort of patients. In Special Care Nurseries, the Patient Care Technician is responsible for assisting with the transport of healthy, uncompromised newborns from Labor and Delivery to the newborn admission nursery, cleaning equipment used on infants in the Special Care Nursery, and ordering patient care supplies from the storeroom and stocking the Special Care Nursery area. In Renal Services, the Patient Care Technician is responsible for assisting with the transportation of stable patients, preparation and maintenance of equipment, inventory and storage of supplies, and documentation of data on flow sheets. Patient Care Tech also acts a courier, delivering and retrieving items/materials as required.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

 

  1. High School diploma or equivalent
  2. Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)

 

PREFERRED

 

  1. Graduate of an accredited Nursing Assistant Course
  2. Listed as a CNA on the Georgia Registry

OR

  1. Graduate of a U.S. Military Medic course

OR

  1. Emergency Medical Tech with one (1) year experience
  2. Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units.
